Refusal to go under Health Insurance can lead to more expense

Because the Old Order Amish and Mennonites in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania do not marry people from outside their community and are uninsured in the not-for-profit hospitals, they are suffering from very deadly genetic diseases. They are struggling with their sicknesses, and at the same time struggling with the medical expenses they have to face because they have not put themselves under the insurance system of these hospitals.
This news races the issue of whether the US health care system is really doing its job in helping those who cannot help themselves. These not-for-profit hospitals are expected to provide immediate care in exchange for their exemption from high taxes.
Most of the Old Order Amish and Mennonites refuse to obtain the health insurances in their area because this group of people believe that it is their community’s duty to care for each other and fend for one another during times like these. However, those who cannot take anymore, approach and seek professional medical care at hospitals, and are expected to pay complete medical bills and expenses.
